Mesic is being threatened with a visit to Levar

NOVI LIST

Efforts are underway to establish the location and identity of a certain Domagoj who is on behalf of the Croatian Revolutionary Brotherhood signing messages received by Vesna Škare Ožbolt, Zoran Pusic and some high ranking officials of the Interior Ministry and State Prosecution.

Threatening messages received in the last couple of days by several state officials and prominent citizens are coming form a server in Australia. The Interior Ministry where they continue trying to establish the location and identity of a certain Domagoj who is signing these threatening messages on behalf of the Croatian Revolutionary Brotherhood confirmed this to us yesterday. Justice Minister Vesna Škare Ožbolt, Zoran Pusic from the Civic Committee for Human Rights are among those who received these messages and threats were directed to e-mail addresses of several high ranking officials of the Interior Ministry, as well as to e-mail addresses and GSM-s of high positioned officials of the State Prosecution.

Mainly it goes for threats that are aimed at trying to frighten, on ideological and racial grounds, those who get them. In the message received in the Justice Ministry the fate of Milan Levar is evoked and there are threats against red bandits. In some messages they threaten that Stjepan Mesic will visit Milan Levar.

In other messages 25.000 USD is being offered for killing Efraim Zuroff, 50.000 USD for demolishing by explosives the office of the Civic Committee for Human Rights, that is helping the SWC and the killing of the person who approved the activity of the Office is «worth» 75.000 USD. This should be the Justice Minister Vesna Škare Ožbolt.
Zoran Pusic got a message claiming that he needs help from Dr. Joseph Mengele. Unofficially we learned that the investigation of threats that are being sent through SMS brought more or less no results. The threats are namely being sent using the VIPme and SIMPA cards that are, after being used, thrown away.

Monopoly on being politically (in) correct

Who is in Croatia deciding what is politically correct and who is (not) behaving correctly? It is obvious that this monopoly was being taken over by some representatives of the NGO sector and by some journalists from the red and yellow media. How much publicist trash was thrown these days against Minister Andrija Hebrang, because he said in a OTV programme that he knows the journalist Šprajc from previous times as Jovanovic. Is it politically incorrect to say that a Serb is a Serb, although there are people with the family name Jovanovict (but pronounced in a different way) who are Croats? No, it is not! In the big world it is not politically incorrect to say that a Jew is a Jew, except when this is connected with some wrong and evil generalization. German professor on the Bundeswehr Academy in Munich, Dr. Michael Wolfsohn, was advocating the modest use of force against prisoners if this would be in the interest of preventing terror. German liberals immediately strongly objected, asking that the professor leave the Academy. Defense Minister Struck spoke with him about the subject, but Dr. Wolfsohn said that he was using the «freedom of academic expression» and he was not removed from his position. Writing about this, the respected Frankfurter Algemeine Zeitung said that Prof. Wolfsohn is a Jew and that Israel is using, with the Supreme Court approval, terror against Palestinian prisoners, when this is in the interest of the fight against their terror. This is questionable in Israel too, but the majority of the Jews in the world approve of the Israeli «state terror» against Palestinian terrorism. One could seriously doubt if it is politically correct when Jews in the world unconditionally approve the Israeli violence against Palestinians in which very often civilians, even women, children and elderly are victims. But that is how it is and it is not incorrect when someone states who is, as a Jew, supporting Israeli violence against Palestinians. In some Croatian weeklies we are still reading the announcement by the Jewish SWC, offering reward for the arrest of the «remaining Nazi criminals». According to the German-French TV channel Arte, the chief of this Center, Zuroff, was in this context welcomed in Croatia «with open arms». Pictures were shown depicting him being received by President Stipe Mesic and by the «humanitarian» Zoran Pusic. But a significant number of leading Jewish personalities in Germany where Zuroff, who is controversial in Israel itself, is expected soon, are rejecting such cowboy style man hunt, such a price in blood. Misha Brunik, a respected Jewish intellectual from Frankfurt openly said so, claiming that this operation is «counterproductive», because it could provoke a new wave of anti-Semitism. It is thus politically correct opposing Zuroff, especially because he did not even try to clean minimally «before his own doors», meaning in Israel, where many public figures and intellectuals are against Sharon’s policy towards the Palestinians. This is even more easy now, after the International Court of Justice in the Hague spoke out against the building of the Israeli «Berlin wall», mainly on the Palestinian territory. We are asking ourselves: why does not Zuroff goes together with those of his countrymen who are criticizing the Sharon’s government «genocidal» policy against the Palestinians? Thus it is politically correct to describe Zuroff at least as being double-faced, regardless of the fact that he is, in the words of the Israeli professor Igor Primorac, insignificant in Israel.

Unfortunately the greatest part of the Croatian yellow and red press sees racism and xenophobia only on the other side. Can you still remember how certain journalists screamed when an already forgotten high ranking HDZ official spoke about «Serbian cone heads», and when the same media speak about people form Herzegovina as being primitive, thieves, war profiteers, etc. this is acceptable, is it not? Globus triumphantly announced that there is nobody from Herzegovina in the Sanader government. Just imagine the outcry in Germany if somebody in its media would pronounce how good it is that there are no Bavarians or, God forbid, Jews, in the Schroeder government. Obviously in today’s Croatian red and yellow press people form Herzegovina are treated the same way as Jews were under Hitler in Germany. Pure racism! About this the Croatian Journalists Association and the omnipresent chairman of the Helsinki Human Rights Committee, Žarko Puhovski, who did voice his opinion even in the case of the blockade of the channel between the islands of Brac and Šolta, remain silent.
