A
NAZI war criminal exposed by The Sun while living freely
in Germany was finally facing justice last night.
Prosecutors asked a court to jail evil Klaas Faber — the third most wanted Nazi
fugitive.
Dutch-born Faber was caged for
life in Holland in 1947 for shooting at least 22 Jews and
resistance fighters while an SS death squad executioner.
He escaped in 1952 and fled over the border to Germany.
The Sun tracked down the monster
in July 2010 and confronted him in the Bavarian city of
Ingolstadt, where he lives with his wife Jacoba.
The Dutch demanded his extradition
and issued an arrest warrant. Israel also joined in calls
for him to be jailed. But local Bavarian officials refused
to act, saying a law passed by Hitler to protect foreign
SS volunteers gave Faber immunity.
After an 18-month campaign the
Bavarians have had a change of heart — thought to be because
previously unknown atrocities came to light.
A court will now decide whether
to order Faber, 89, to serve out his Dutch life sentence
in a German jail.
Delighted Nazi hunter Dr Efraim
Zuroff said: "Protecting a Nazi killer was a travesty."
