Wiesenthal Center Welcomes Prosecution of Stutthof Guard Which Will Open in the German City of Muenster Tomorrow

Jerusalem – The Simon Wiesenthal Center welcomes the opening tomorrow of the trial of Stutthof guard Johann Rehbogen in the German city of Muenster. In a statement issued here today by its chief Nazi-hunter Dr. Efraim Zuroff, the Center emphasized the importance of such trials even at this late date.

According to Zuroff:

“The passage of time in no way diminishes the guilt of Holocaust perpetrators and old age should not afford protection to those who committed such heinous crimes.”

The Wiesenthal Center assisted the preparations for this case by locating approximately 20 survivors of Stutthof, almost all of whom are currently residing in Israel.
